Girls only

The other day I was reading nick blog, the post about Mothercare and it got me thinking hard i realized that the name is slightly sexist. This got me thinking about women only car insurance companies. such as dimond. Is it really fair to have these because if there were male drivers only insurance companies it would cause outrage. I was having this same conversation with someone who i will not name and they said that it is fair because women are better drivers and we are less likely to crash. However i supose that is just opinion as that person was a woman.

So i went on google since i had nothing better to do and typed in: who are better drivers men or women. Most websites said that men were more skilled then women at driving as they know their cars better than women. However websites were also saying that men were more likely to be killed in car accidents than women were. A counter argument to this is that there are more male drivers on the roads than women so more men are going to be killed in road accidents.
I didn't get a clear answer to my question. However i think that this quote will sum up why i asked the question in the first place.

"I'm 19 and when getting an insurance quote for a car I found it was nearly half the price by just changing my name from Mr to Miss. I think this is pathetic. Why is our country turning like this, we are always being told not to be sexist. Is this not giving out the wrong impression?"

i think you're right in saying that if the tables were turned then there would be an outrage... i can think of at least one person who would have their say! lol (not nameing any names)

i used to be sure that female drivers are better than males ones, cos why would they have these companies otherwise? but when looking at the bigger picture like you have i can see why it isn't fair on men to have these car insureance just for women.

It is a very good point, but I know men and women that are bad drivers... does being a man make you more likely to have an accident? Who do they hit? Men or women? It's all very odd. Wendy and I are keen to start our discussion group asap. So check out my "french accents" blog for more info...

After i read Nicks post on Mothercares name, i thought i'd go into Mothercare and complain on his behalf!

That said they understood my complaint and would talk it over with their manager!

The Revolution has begun!

If we could also get women's hourly pay to be raised from 82% of mens to maybe 100% of mens that'd be cool.
